My Approach to Helping

Updated 12-1-23. My practice is currently full, I am unable to take any new clients at this time.

Were you often told what you should think, feel (or not feel) and do with your life whether it be from family, friends, work, the media or society. When this happens over and over you can begin to loose touch with or faith in who you really are, what you think, feel and want. Has life can blindsided you with a loss or change you weren't expecting or aren't able to cope with on our own? These kinds of experiences can provide openings for sadness, worry, confusion or depression to enter our lives. Sometimes we can't even pinpoint why we feel the way we do, we just know we don't like it and we want it to change.

I have been offering interactive, mindful and compassionate centered counseling and coaching for over 15 years to people looking for help with relationships, anxiety and stress, depression and sadness, self-worth, shame, transitions, divorce, grief and loss, and finding deeper meaning in life.

I work with couples to navigate and decrease conflict, increase communication, strengthen and rebuild trust, intimacy and friendship. Tools to understand and work with communication, conflict, trust, emotion, values and dreams.

More Info About My Practice

I offer the transformational DARING WAY(tm) and RISING STRONG(tm) 8 week small groups, as well as integrating these processes into my counseling and an informal monthly Meetup.

The material is based on the life work of Dr. Brene Brown in the area of courage, vulnerability, shame and living wholeheartedly. Find out more by visiting my website.

I hold a biweekly therapeutic support group on Wednesdays for people going through separation and divorce, offering a supportive space to share your experience and gain support from others who understand what you are going through.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

What I love about being a psychotherapist is you! I am honored and grateful to sit with the people that come to my office with a willingness and desire to challenge that which challenges them. I love seeing the light reemerge in their lives as they begin to take off the shackles of sadness, worry, a silenced voice or loss. One of my favorite quotes by Rumi, "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and righting there is a field. I'll meet you there." became the inspiration for the mantra I use in my work as a therapist and for creating the space where you can be you without judgment.

Out beyond ideas of right and wrong, good and bad there is a peaceful stillness. Answers reside there.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I have been a client, sat on the sofa in a room under the weight of deep sadness and spinning fear, chronic pain and loss, hoping for help. I remember wondering if the light would ever reemerge in my own life. With support and practices it did. My experience played a big role in my becoming a therapist and influences the way I work, allowing me to meet you where you are with profound respect, care and compassion and believe in your capacity to find healing and meaning in your life.
