When I work with someone in psychotherapy, the immediate goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable with me. Once the therapeutic relationship has been established, it is easier to uncover the things that are getting in the way of your happiness, success and well-being. During the initial consultation phase, I try to help you think about what it is that you want to accomplish, paying attention to what initially brought you into therapy. People come to see me for many reasons, but almost all hope to learn different ways to manage challenges in their lives. I work with adults in individual or couples/marriage therapy. I am interested in helping you make behavioral changes so that you achieve your goals in the area of your life you feel is lacking: career, romantic relationships/friendships, identity formation. I have experience with depression, anxiety, PTSD, intimacy concerns, obesity. I practice from a psychodynamic perspective--I look at the whole person rather than regarding you as a set of symptoms. I believe that we are who we are because of many factors, and that the way we manage in our lives comes from information we have learned along the way.
